Our Pregnancy Pilates classes focus on correcting breathing patterns, whilst emphasising spinal and pelvic alignment. Concentrating on slow, smooth, flowing movements, you will learn to tune into your body, and the incredible job it is doing growing your baby. Each week, you’ll move through a gentle sequence, aimed at expanding, strengthening and energising the body.
All exercises are carefully chosen for their safety and suitability during each trimester of pregnancy. We place particular emphasis on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, incorporating postures and movements suitable for labour and birth. All exercises are mat based, using props such as birth balls, spiky balls, soft balls and magic circles.
Throughout the class you will be encouraged to accept the changes that your body is going through, to appreciate how strong you are, to embrace your particular stage of pregnancy and to prepare to meet your precious baby in a healthy and relaxed frame of mind. Class finishes with some guided meditation and positive affirmation work in our beautiful warm, nurturing studio.
Our Pregnancy Pilates classes are open to all stages of pregnancy. However, if any of the following are applicable to you, you may only join classes after week 12 of your pregnancy, and with the agreement of your healthcare professional.
